The programme revolves around what endures, what is shifting, and what connects us. It reveals spaces defined by freedom and self-determination, encouraging a deeper and more intense way of observing the world. Among this year’s highlights is the exhibition This Way to Heaven – a posthumous tribute to the oeuvre of iconic photographer William Klein (1926–2022) in honour of what would have been his 100th birthday. Also on view are presentations of works by photography pioneer Edward Steichen, as well as renowned contemporary artists such as Katia Kameli, Ayana V. Jackson and Bruno Boudjelal.
In addition to more than 40 exhibitions – displayed at extraordinary historic locations across the city – the 2026 edition once again features a rich programme of accompanying events, including evening screenings and open-air projections, panel discussions, lectures, and much more. Every summer since 1970, Rencontres d’Arles has served as a major platform for showcasing the very best of international photography, while also serving as an important springboard for emerging talents in photography and contemporary art.
