Leica M (Typ 262)

November 19, 2015

Leica are introducing the new M (Typ 262) with CMOS-Sensor – but without Live View or video capability.
The new Leica M (Typ 262) features a CMOS-Sensor – however, Leica have omitted both Live View and video function. This streamlined concept is a direct response to frequent customer requests for a camera that “can offer the technological advantages of the Leica M (Typ 240), combined with the pared-down range of functions of the M9,” Jesko von Oeynhausen, product manager for the M System at Leica Camera, explains in LFI 1/2016.

Externally, only minor details differentiate the M (Typ 240) from its ‘big sister’, the M (Typ 240), while practical improvements include the new M’s more light-weight top plate and a quieter shutter.

The M (Typ 240) epitomises the idea of concentrating on the essentials – with fewer functions, less weight and, not least, a lower retail price than any other model of the M series.
