Leica introduce the new accessory brand '0.95'.
Leica are launching a new collection of high-end accessories under the brand name of 0.95. The name references Leica's fastest lens, the Noctilux-M 50 mm f/0.95 Asph – symbolising an ambition to keep going beyond what is technologically possible.
0.95 is the result of a collaboration with the French company S.T. Dupont, manufacturers of premium luggage and accessories. For the first 0.95 collection, S.T. Dupont have created a range of elegant writing instruments, a sophisticated gas lighter as well as an elegant key-ring pendant. All products of the 'S.T. Dupont for 0.95' collection use high-quality materials, including the innovative Ceramium A.C.T. which is more light-weight than commonly-used metal alloys, and up to six times more resilient to mechanical wear. The collection is available from 10. November 2015 exclusively in selected Leica Stores.
To mark the beginning of the new brand, Leica are also releasing a limited edition of the Noctilux-M 50 mm f/0.95 Asph, comprising of just 95 units. The special-edition lens will offer the same technical specifications as the serial model, but is distinguished by several unique details: the light-sensitivity engraving of '0.95' is accentuated in white, while all other engravings on this limited-edition version are laid out in a subtle, high-gloss grey, almost merging into the lens's matte-black anodised surface. The engravings represent the first time a gloss-anodised surface was used for design purposes, instead of its usual technical function as a glide surface within the interior of the lens.
