Palermo Diary

Werner Mansholt

October 9, 2024

On 17 October 2024, Werner Mansholt presents his project Palermo Diary at the Leica Gallery in Stuttgart.
Over the past eight years the photographer Werner Mansholt, who is based in Darmstadt, Germany, dedicated five separate periods to conducting photographic studies in Palermo. He has now collated his artistic impressions into an atmospheric reflection on Sicily’s capital city: street scenes, relics of past endeavours, and portraits infused with his deep interest in the human condition.

The project was published in 2023 as an illustrated volume by 89books.com, and is to be introduced on 17 October at the Leica Gallery Stuttgart.

This will be followed by another presentation at the Fotografie Forum Frankfurt on 20 November (starting at 6 p.m.), which will be accompanied by a panel talk between Werner Mansholt and the venue’s artistic director, Prof. Celina Lunsford, as well as a slide-show lecture featuring images from the book.
