“I miss those warm, sunny days when we could go anywhere we wished throughout our beautiful country, and take beautiful photos, feeling free, feeling happy – those times when we could see the safe, blue sky over our heads. We didn’t appreciate what we had, and now it seems like the most important thing in the world is not material – it is freedom."

Sergey Melnitchenko was born in Mykolayiv, Ukraine, in 1991. He began taking photographs in 2009. In 2018 he founded the MYPH, a school for conceptual and art photography. He is a member of the Ukrainian Photo Alternative (UPHA), a winner of Ukrainian and international competitions, including the Leica Oskar Barnack Newcomer Award in 2017. In 2020, he was nominated for Foam Paul Huf Award. More
