The 40th anniversary exhibition traces the venue’s evolution from a small backyard gallery to its present role as a nationally and internationally active center for photography. The showcase is on display until January 22, 2022.
At the heart of the exhibition are 40 works of art that have been selected as aphorisms for the gallery’s rich exhibition history across the decades: each year is represented by one exhibit from that time. The resulting collection delivers illuminating insights into how photography has evolved, and how it was presented, from the 1980s to today. In addition to providing a brief history of the venue itself, ‘40 Years of Fotohof’ illustrates important stages in the medium’s evolution from marginalisation to recognition as an art form in its own right.
In accordance with the latest safety regulations, the exhibition is currently closed. Please check the gallery website for updates on (re)opening times.
