Lynsey Addario, Ismail Ferdous, Tom Hegen: Leica Gallery Stuttgart presents three outstanding LOBA projects, on view until 11 May 2024.
Under the title of Perspectives, Leica Gallery Stuttgart presents three winning and shortlisted series of the Leica Oskar Barnack Award. The LOBA counts as one of the most renowned prizes in the field of photography, and has significantly contributed to promoting diverse, high-quality photojournalism for 42 years to date.

Each of the showcased projects uses a different perspective to explore the relationship between people and their environment.

Lynsey Addario trained her lens on women on the frontline of climate change. She accompanied her protagonists into the heart of crisis zones to create an authentic account of their experience, and heighten our understanding of the environmental challenges of our time.

Ismail Ferdous shines a light on the socio-cultural diversity of his native Bangladesh. His vibrant impressions of the beach in Cox’s Bazar conjure up wistful memories and modern realities – and introduce us to a seaside culture that is unfamiliar to the European eye.

Tom Hegen uses the spatial distance of aerial photography to reveal the devastated landscapes of Germany’s coal mining regions. Yet his images also show the almost abstract beauty and fascinating symmetry created by human activity on the land.
