For the fourth time, Internationale Photoszene Köln is teaming up with some of Cologne’s most renowned institutions – which will open their (photo) archives to a careful selection of international artists and/or artist collectives. Established in 2018, the Artist Meets Archive residency programme aims to foster close collaborations between distinguished institutions and passionate creatives from the fields of archival studies and photography.
This year’s candidates are able to apply directly via an Open Call; five applicants will be chosen to pursue their projects during the summer of 2024 – the results are presented at the Photoszene Festival in May 2025.
The participating partner institutions are: the Photography Collection/SK Cultural Foundation; the Cologne City Museum; the Rautenstrauch-Joest Museum; the Museum Ludwig; and, for the first time, the Building Archive of the Cologne Cathedral (Dombauarchiv).
Applications for the Artist Meets Archive programme are open until 31 January 2024. Further details about the residency grant and rules of participation can be found at Photoszene Köln.
