The 7th edition of the annual Latin American Foto Festival (LAFF) is set to take place across four boroughs in NYC. For the duration of the festival, large-scale works by emerging and established photographers will be presented throughout South Bronx’s Melrose neighbourhood, as well as in five newly added locations in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens.
The showcases, which include works from Bolivia, Peru, Cuba, Mexico, Guatemala and Brazil, provide fascinating insights into an extraordinary bandwidth of themes: from traditional Bolivian women, to the impact of US immigration policy on Mexican migrants; from the environmental and social challenges in the Amazon, to the lives of single mothers in Havana; from a ballet school in Peru, to basketball culture in Oaxaca’s indigenous communities, and much more.
This is complemented by workshops, guided tours, panel discussions and other communal events at the Bronx Documentary Center. The LAFF is curated by Cynthia Rivera and Michael Kamber.
