The crowd-funding campaign for Miron Zownir’s Heading West project continues until August 9.
2016 is an election campaign year. Regardless of who wins, Clinton or Trump, America faces a crucial test that will completely polarize the country.
For many Americans, it is a choice between bad and worse. It is in the heat of this moment, that photographer Miron Zownir and his camera will be heading into the American west to give visual form to critical questions.
Zownir’s focus is the result of his fundamental sympathy for the underdogs of this world. His familiar, radical form of reportage plans to illuminate the depths of daily life in the USA. It will show momentary glimpses, photographic essays and milieu studies involving outsiders and the lower social classes, following the tradition of the socio-documentary photography that he has been dedicated to for over 35 years.
Sixty years after Robert Frank’s seminal legacy The Americans, Zownir wants to dive once again below America’s showy surface, with analogue, minimalistic means, and free of prejudice.
