Michal Siarek wins New East Photo Prize

The Calvert 22 Foundation, London, showcases selected work by the finalists nominated for the first edition of the New East Photo Prize. Through 18 December, 2016.
Michał Siarek was crowned winner of Calvert 22 Foundation’s New East Photo Prize. Chosen from over 1000 entries and out of 11 shortlisted finalists, Siarek’s series Alexander was crowned as the winner. Entries for the prize were only open to residents or citizens of the New East - that is the countries which make up Russia, Eastern Europe, the Balkans and Central Asia.
 
Michał Siarek's !Alexander! follows the influence of Macedonia’s decision to rebuild Skopje after discovering a connection with its alleged ancient roots to Alexander the Great.

Siarek’s work, and those of the other 10 finalists is on show at Calvert 22 Foundation, London, until 18 December.
