As Official Photography Partner of Photokina 2016, Leica will be staging the Masters of Photography exhibition at the world photography trade fair.
Every day up until the opening of the Photokina on September 20, we will be presenting one of the pictures series. Today it is Origin by Jakob de Boer.
His photographic curiosity and a desire for knowledge led the Canadian photographer to Tanzania last year. A passionate coffee drinker, Jakob de Boer set out to document coffee production at Songwa Farm in the Great Rift Valley, about 500 kilometres away from the Tanzanian capital, Dodoma. Using a Leica M Monochrom 246, de Boer deliberately chose to photograph his series in an artistic form of narrative, dedicating his quiet black and white images to the landscape and the people on the coffee plantations.
