The Berlinische Galerie is showing the first solo exhibition of the Romanian artist Loredana Nemes until 15 October 2018.
The exhibition comprises about 120 photo works - the focus is on portraits of people, poetry and the surrealism of everyday life. Nemes has long focused on social and politically relevant topics such as identity and personality. With the stylistic elements of sharpness, blurriness and abstraction, her images also partly reflect uncertainties, ignorance and fears of the viewer. The artist brings experiences from three different cultures: from Romania, her native country, from Iran, a stopover in her childhood, and from Germany, her present home.
The exhibition will feature six photo cycles from Nemes' last ten creative years, three of which have just been completed and can now be seen for the first time in the Berlinische Galerie. More information can be found here
