Leica Street Photo Contest

March 6, 2024

Jean-Flavien Piquemal has won the Grand Prix of this year’s Leica Street Photo Contest with his image Psychic Side Kick.
What started as a regional photo contest in Poland has evolved into a competition with international reach: more than 10,000 entries were submitted for the 13th Leica Street Photo Contest by photographers from 102 countries around the world.

After their presentation in Warsaw, the 30 shortlisted works are now displayed at the Leica Gallery Vienna, where they can be viewed from 7 March to 3 April 2024.

Today’s opening celebrations also included the revelation of this year’s Grand Prix winner: French photographer Jean-Flavien Piquemal impressed the jury with his image Psychic Side Kick, and was able to take home a brand-new Leica Q3.

“Piquemal’s photography is an extremely intense image, the afterimage of which stays with the viewer for a long time”, was the jury’s reasoning. “It is a photograph that does not provide answers, but immediately raises a number of questions. Perfectly composed, extremely visually intense and perfectly captured in time, it meets all the elements of a perfect street frame.”

Congratulations!
