1.2 firmware update – optimized picture quality and improved handling.
The 1.2 firmware update for the Leica SL camera system is available immediately. Registered camera owners can down-load the firmware after logging into the Leica owner's area, or alternately, the camera can be brought up-to-date as part of the free services offered at Leica Stores.

The 1.2 firmware update offers some fundamental improvements in both picture quality and in the handling of the camera. These include the optimization of the picture quality in the ISO 50 to 400 range, the improvement of the electronic viewfinder image, and greater flexibility when entering WLAN passwords.

When using Leica M or R lenses, the new 1.2 firmware allows the activation of an enlargement by means of the AutoExposure lock key (AE-Lock) so as to be able to focus manually quickly. In addition thanks to the firmware update, a correct identification of the R Adapter M and the R lenses used is provided in the EXIF data.

What's more, the Leica Log Gamma curve (L-Log) for videos has been improved, so that it can also be used for internal 8 bit recordings. The reduction of the Offset makes the recordings appear significantly darker. Videos recorded with L-Log must afterwards be corrected with a gamma correction in an external video editing programme. Using the L-Log allows for larger freedom when colour grading videos.

In addition, you can find a continuously updated and expanded overview of all applicable SD cards at www.sl.leica-camera.com.
