The exhibition In Plain View by renowned Swedish photographer Gerry Johansson continues at London’s Large Glass Gallery until 2 November 2024.
The Large Glass Gallery presents a selection of thirty works spanning six decades of the Swedish photographer’s career. “What I find refreshing about Johansson’s work is the sense one feels of his enjoyment of moving through an unfamiliar landscape and simply taking in what is before him,” fellow photographer Jeffrey Ladd writes in a text accompanying the exhibition. “The work seems formed not in the mind first, but through the physical footsteps he takes and directness at which he looks.”

Gerry Johansson (b. 1945) is based in Höganäs, Sweden. In the late 1960s, he studied graphic design in Gothenburg before embracing the medium of photography. His work has been exhibited at distinguished museums and international institutions, among them the Kunsthalle Rostock in Germany, the Museum of Modern Art in Bogota, Colombia, the Hasselblad Center in Gothenburg and the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Sweden.

The artist has also produced numerous photo books, including the recently published Spanish Summer and American Winter (both released by MACK). His work has been recognised with the Swedish Arts Grants Committee’s Award and the prestigious Lars Tunbjörk Prize.
