Focus on Humanity

May 29, 2026

The 19th edition of the “horizons zingst” Environmental Photo Festival is set to take place in the German seaside resort of Zingst from May 29 to June 7, 2026.
Humans are remarkable. Multi-faceted, contradictory, astounding. We create and destroy, protect and fear, we dream of security and, at the same time, of freedom. This year’s “horizons zingst” Environmental Photo Festival turns the spotlight on humanity as part of a wider world.

How do we want to live together in peace – across borders, opinions and cultures? How can we shape our environment in a conscious and considered manner to ensure our future survival? These are just some of the questions that underpin the festival exhibitions curated by Edda Fahrenhorst: “Following the major themes of recent years – such as flora, fauna, and resources – we are now turning our attention to HUMANITY. This concerns each and every one of us – not only within our individual lives, but also on a much broader scale.”

Open-mindedness, empathy, love, curiosity, playfulness and a thirst for knowledge – all of them innate human traits – find expression in a total of 15 exhibitions across the seaside town. The represented photographers include Lauren Fleishman, Valentin Goppel, Esther Horvath, Max Kersting, Robbie Shone, Zed Nelson, Rubén Salgado Escudero, Walter Schels and 2025 LOBA winner Alejandro Cegarra, to name but a few.
