Berlin’s Buchkunst Gallery, which will specialise in photography-based art, opened its doors with an exhibition by Michael Wesely. Continues until November 21, 2021.

The new Buchkunst Gallery in Berlin presents its inaugural exhibition: ‘Wunderblock NNG+’ features photographs, videos and an installation by German photographer Michael Wesely (b. 1963), who documented the renovations of the New National Gallery building in Berlin. An additional selection of images, captured in Barcelona and Giverny, gives insight into the photographer’s technical and conceptual approaches.

Wesely is renowned for his exceptional mastery of ultra-long exposures. Using filters and extremely small apertures to reduce the amount of light striking the film, he creates unique images that capture both space and time. His subjects range from landscape and architectural images to still lifes and portraits.

Berlin’s Buchkunst Gallery specialises in showcasing classic and contemporary photography, as well as photo-based art. The showroom will also serve as a space to present photo books released by Buchkunst Berlin Publishing. The gallery’s curators are Ana Druga and Thomas Gust.
