Göran Gnaudschun has spent a lot of time at the Alexanderplatz in Berlin. Sitting, waiting and observing. Once a week over a four year period, the photographer would sit there; and he would start talking with punks, young homeless people, runaways and society drop-outs. Little by little his Alexanderplatz project emerged. It is a series of sensitive and dignified portraits that will be on display at the Munich Stadtmuseum as of March 13.
Photography as an attitude
“It's important to me to draw out an element of dignity believed buried forever, so that it is part of the portrait: a dignity that is revealed thanks to a certain approach and type of photography – in other words, not just the light, detail and posture, but also my attitude towards those I portray,” is how the Berlin-based photographer explains his work.
