From 1 to 10 February 2019, Amsterdam’s FOAM photography museum presents the project ‘Ghosts Don’t Walk in Straight Lines’, created by Saskia de Brauw and Vincent van de Wijngaard.

The project ‘Ghosts Don’t Walk in Straight Lines’ follows the Dutch artist and supermodel Saskia de Brauw on a slow amble through the bustling streets of New York: over the course of a single day, de Brauw walked the entirety of Manhattan’s north-south axis – her measured pace standing in sharp contrast to the bustling chaos and rush of the city.

Her route took her from 225th Street and Broadway all the way down to Battery Park – passing through very different neighbourhoods and conjuring up a myriad of impressions. The internationally renowned photographer and film-maker Vincent van de Wijngaard documented her extraordinary journey in an evocative collection of colour and black-and-white images.
