It was all change at the Leica Oskar Barnack Award 2016: from the elegant logo to the award ceremony held in Berlin, not forgetting the increased prize money. These modifications attracted a considerably higher number of entries. Two French photographers, Scarlett Coten and Clémentine Schneidermann, triumphed among the finalists.

LOBA 2016+-

French photographer Scarlett Coten won the Leica Oskar Barnack Award 2016 with her series "Mectoub", while Clémentine Schneidermann, born in Paris in 1991, won the Newcomer Award with her series "The Unbearable, the Sadness and the Rest". The 2016 LOBA Catalogue can be ordered from the LFI Shop – comprising all shortlisted series in their entirety, along with detailed background information.
