For his project Seafarers, Patrick Ludolph captured everyday life on board vast container ships delivering goods across the seas. Over the course of six weeks, he travelled from Singapore to Shanghai, from Hamburg to Le Havre in France, and passed through the Panama Canal from Chile’s Valparaiso to Colombia’s Cartagena. Joining the crews of three ships altogether, he lived alongside the seafarers – watching them work and recording his personal impressions.

The resulting material was collated into a photo-book of around 160 images, presented in 13 chapters. Following its introduction a few weeks ago, hand-signed copies of the book are now available at the LFI shop.

Patrick Ludolph

Patrick Ludolph (born 1972 in Bielefeld) is based in Hamburg. Following his first career in digital marketing, he has been a freelance photographer since 2010 – placing particular focus on capturing people in the form of portraits and reportages.
