Michael Collins, Hoo Flats diptych, 2016
The exhibition Tracing Transformation – Landscapes and Environments by Laurenz Berges, Michael Collins and Paola De Pietri opens at the SK Stiftung Kultur in Cologne on 1 March at 19.00. The project comprises works by three photographers, created in their respective countries: Laurenz Berges (*1966) from Dusseldorf, Germany; Michael Collins (*1961) from London, UK; Paola De Pietri (*1960) from Reggio Emilia, Italy.
The showcase presents visual studies of landscapes and buildings, most of them located in the areas surrounding the artists’ studios or homes. This geographic proximity allowed for in-depth, long-term observations. Each photographer witnessed the transformative effect of time within their environment, documenting their impressions in the form of high-quality images created with large-format cameras.
