THE DARKROOM PROJECT

August 9, 2014

You can register for the competition up until September 10, 2014.
The Darkroom Project is an idea of Italian fine art laboratory assistant and photographer Luciano Corvaglia. The aim is to revive an interest in the whole darkroom process, and to bring the magic of analogue, black and white photo development back into the awareness, especially of the younger generation.

Five laboratory assistants will compete in the development of the same negatives: on the first evening, Corvaglio will give the competitors a semi-difficult negative to work with, on the second a more difficult one and on the third a negative that “borders on the impossible”.

For each photo, the participants will be given five test strips, just one piece of barite photo paper measuring 50 × 60 cm and around 30 minutes of time. They will only get to see the negative for the first time half an hour before the test.

On the closing evening of the three-day competition, after reviewing the results achieved in the individual tests, a winner will be nominated and will receive an award.

The competition will taken place from October 8 to 10 and the VHS photo laboratory in Stuttgart.

Interested people from all over Germany can take part in the competition. Registration up until September 10, 2014 by email to info@lucianocorvaglia.com
