Fotomuseum Winterthur dedicates a comprehensive exhibition to the genre of street photography – on show from September 12, 2020 to January 10, 2021.

Curated by Dr. Sabine Schnackenberg (Deichtorhallen Hamburg), the showcase ‘Street. Life. Photography’ features some 220 works by 36 international photographers, spanning the past seven decades. The juxtaposition of historical and contemporary works makes it possible to trace central tendencies and important technical, conceptual and aesthetic developments within the genre. The kaleidoscopic presentation is divided into five chapters: Street Life, Crashes, Public Transfer, Anonymity, and Alienation.

Visitors are able to view contemporary works by artists such as Maciej Dakowicz, Loredana Nemes and Harri Pälviranta alongside historical approaches by iconic masters such as Diane Arbus, Lee Friedlander, William Klein, Harry Callahan, and Lisette Model.
