Questions of Identity and Belonging

October 8, 2024

Look at Us. 25 Years of Art Collection Deutsche Börse is on view in Frankfurt from 10 October 2024 to 9 March 2025.
Since 1999, the Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation has collated visual representations of the human condition in all its facets. Today, its collection of contemporary photography comprises more than 2,300 works by around 160 artists from 35 countries – covering an enormous breadth of backgrounds, genres and approaches.

On the occasion of the Art Collection’s 25th anniversary, the Foundation presents an extensive showcase featuring new acquisitions from the past two years, illustrating the ways in which they enrich the body of the collection and enter into a dialogue with existing groups of work.

Look at Us. 25 Years of Art Collection Deutsche Börse encompasses over 120 photographs by the following international photographers: Sabiha Çimen, Lynne Cohen, Philip-Lorca diCorcia, Mitch Epstein, Lucas Foglia, Samuel Fosso, Paul Graham, Marvel Harris, Candida Höfer, Lebohang Kganye, Hsu- Pin Lee, Helen Levitt, Dana Lixenberg, Daniel Jack Lyons, Sabelo Mlangeni, Gordon Parks, Inge Rambow, Thomas Ruff, Aida Silvestri, Chi Yin Sim, Vanessa Winship and Tobias Zielony.

Using very different, but always deeply moving approaches, the represented artists explore how photography supports the questioning and manifestation of identity, connection and communal belonging.
