Through January 27, 2020 Leica Gallery London presents the exhibition ‘Nature Tales’ by Pierre Gonnord, a series of images depicting the connection between humans and animals.

‘Nature Tales’ is the first showcase of Gonnord’s new diptychs portraying the relationship between man and nature. Drawing on the rich visual tapestry of age-old fables of mythical animals and magical creatures, Gonnord matches every animal with a human counterpart in an aesthetically compelling way. The viewer is invited to look beyond the genetic origin of each subject, feel their individual personality and the relationship between the pair.

Pierre Gonnord is self-taught and has spent the last 20 years predominately working in Spain as a photographer. The Frenchman uses elements of classical portraiture to depict his subjects – dramatic lighting, traditional composition and more often than not a dark background.
