The exhibition ‘Alwin Lay. Prego’ continues at the Museum of Photography in Braunschweig, Germany, until May 23, 2021.
The Braunschweig Museum of Photography currently presents the showcase ‘Prego’ – a comprehensive solo exhibition of films and photographs by Alwin Lay. Along with works created in the past few years, the show also includes pieces that were realised especially for this exhibition. The presentation was curated by Barbara Hofmann-Johnson in collaboration with the artist; the display concept was developed specifically for the museum’s exhibition spaces.

Alwin Lay (born 1984 in Romania) creates pared-down, offbeat orchestrations of everyday objects, which serve as the basis for his photographic and filmic explorations – and are subsequently ‘translated’ into sculptural installations. In doing so, the artist challenges our habitual perceptions: causalities and proportional relationships are thrown into question; visual illusions encourage us to alter our perspective, and re-examine our ingrained expectations of a photographic depiction.

All museum visits are subject to the latest Covid-19 health and safety regulations. For details on the current stipulations and to pre-book your visit, please contact info@photomuseum.de.
