From November 28, 2015, to April 3, 2016, the Pfalzgalerie Museum in Kaiserslautern is presenting an exhibition of Vera Mercer's morbid still lifes.
A eulogy to life
The Leica photographer once said in an interview, “Life and death are two great things. I wish my photos could express this even more emphatically.” With these still lifes she had fulfilled her dream. Flowers that have fully blossomed, overripe fruits and dead creatures – a memento mori par excellence and a eulogy to life at the same time.
