New York: Between Myth and Reality

December 11, 2025

Until January 10, 2026, the Noir Blanche Gallery in Düsseldorf presents the group exhibition New York – Metropolis of Images.
New York – city of extremes, contrasts, and endless possibilities. The exhibition at the Noir Blanche Gallery brings together works by six renowned photographers who captured the city’s allure from very personal perspectives.

Walter Schels, F.C. Gundlach, Horst Wackerbarth, Monika Baumgartl, Barbara Wolff, and Hans Lux each have a different visual signature – from compelling portraits and poetic night-time shots, to iconic compositions and documentary impressions of urban life. Together, their images culminate in a richly layered portrait of a city that never stops moving. The showcase takes viewers on an atmospheric journey through New York in its many facets – between glamour and shadows, speed and stillness, myth and reality.
