New Photography Location in Moscow

March 19, 2021

On March 21, 2021, the Lumiere Brothers Center of Photography opens its new showrooms with the exhibition ‘Laurent Chéhère. The Sky Over Paris’.
Moscow’s Lumiere Gallery is opening two additional exhibition halls, located in a three-storey 19th century mansion. The ‘Lumiere Club’ will be dedicated to educational content, while the book shop on the ground floor will offer the world’s best photography books. A strong focus will be placed on providing access to the foundations of classic Soviet photographers such as Naum Granovsky, Andrey Knyazev, and Erwin Volkov.

The new venue opens on March 21, 2021 with the showcase ‘Laurent Chéhère. The Sky Over Paris’. The French photographer (born 1972) first gained acclaim for his project ‘Flying Houses’, which he started in 2012. To create the series, he photographed residential buildings in Paris, before isolating them from their backdrops and letting them float in the sky, rather like kites. The result is an idiosyncratic vision of the city that is both poetic and surreal.
