Around two years ago, Berlin-based photographer Barbara Wolff (born 1951 in the GDR) started to use Instagram to publish black and white images she had captured with her smartphone camera. It was not long before her urban scenes, which she describes as “subjective impressions of the city in the present day”, attracted a large following.
The images presented at the Collection Regard exhibition space are excerpts from the series ‘Metropolis’. After converting her digital image files into analogue negatives, Wolff developed the photographs herself – producing classic, silver gelatin prints on matte photo paper.
The exhibition can be viewed by prior arrangement. Visitors are also invited to a ‘Salon Photographique’ on Thursday, March 11, which will be attended by Barbara Wolff and Collection Regard owner Marc Barbey. Doors open at 19.00, followed by an artist talk starting at 19.30; The admission fee is € 5. Pre-registration at info@collectionregard.com
Should there be a change in safety regulations, the Salon Photographique will be held as a YouTube live stream event instead.
