Image 1: “Faruk has a motorbike taxi on the island of Lamu in Kenya. One day I became his patron, and I was able to take his picture afterwards. As I got off the bike and he stood there relaxed, light fell onto half of his face – reflected by a house behind me. It was one of my last encounters in the country that had made me into a photographer.” – Felix Vollmann

Image 2: “I was taking pictures backstage during Fashion Week in Milan. The models, hair stylists and make-up artists were busily working together, when I caught the perfect moment: the outfits are just right, and the model is about to hit the catwalk – ready to perform. Her expression is the cherry on top.” – Giuseppe Pons

Image 3: “This picture was captured in a second, leaving behind one main question: who is behind the curtain? I had every opportunity to stop and check for myself, but I deliberately chose not to, offering a chance for our imagination to unfold. It remains a mystery, even to myself.” – Perrin Ganal

Image 4: “We were meandering through Covent Garden, just after lunch, whenwe happened upon this little group in a square. Dressed in early 1920s fashion they were celebrating with champagne. I hung back for a brief moment with my camera in hand, to immerse myself into the scene.” – Raymund Adan

Image 5: “This portrait is the opener for Elemental – my long-term series on traditional Vietnamese culture and master craftsmanship. Focusing onPhù Lãng, a village with a centuries old dedication to pottery, it explores the interplay of the four elements, with a fifth: the human spirit.” – Phong Nguyên

Image 6: “On my first morning in Naples I wandered alone through the alleys of the Spanish Quarter. A restaurant proprietor was carefully installing aportrait of Diego Maradona on the wall. There are graffiti, posters and sculptures of Maradona everywhere, because he is the hero of the city.” – Chris Yan

Image 7: “On my morning walk along a jungle path in the nearby Cameron Highlands of Malaysia, I noticed two cinnamon frogs peeking quietly and warily out of their pitcher plants. This was an intimate and fleeting moment in which light, life and harmony seemed to converge.” – Chiow Boo Chan
