The Photographers’ Gallery presents Noémie Goudal’s first major solo show in London which consists of entirely new and previously unseen works. Through 10 January, 2016.
Southern Light Stations continues Noémie Goudal’s interest in manmade interventions into the natural world, through photographs which portray complex and ambiguous constructions created by the artist within the landscape. Reflecting a fascination with our relationship to the sky, the exhibition draws upon a rich history of myths, legends, religious symbolism and early scientific theories. Through photographs, stereoscopes and architectural installations, the exhibition Southern Light Stations aims to explore the intangible nature of celestial space - long considered a mirror of terrestrial turmoil as well as an expression of the sacred.
Noémie Goudal (b.1984) is a French artist who lives and works between Paris and London. Noémie Goudal’s practice is an investigation into photographs and films as dialectical images, wherein close proximities of truth and fiction, real and imagined offer new perspectives into the photographic canvas.
Since graduating from the Royal College of Art in 2010 with an MA in Photography, she has exhibited widely and received numerous awards. Goudal is represented in London by Edel Assanti and Les Filles du Calvaire, Paris.
