Hello Again

March 4, 2024

Through to 17 March 2024, Hanover’s Galerie für Fotografie presents the exhibition Hello Again with works by Stern photographer Volker Hinz.
Volker Hinz (1947–2019) left his mark on German photojournalism, as well as on the many people he portrayed. A dedicated master of his craft who never went anywhere without his camera, he ranks among the most important representatives of the medium’s ‘golden years’.

The Galerie für Fotografie in Hanover now offers insights into the photographer’s life’s work. The exhibition revolves around three thematic focus points: His work as a prolific portraitist; his perspective on the United States; and his images from the fields of fashion and fine-art photography. With unwavering energy, ambition and profound expertise, Hinz created works that transcended the context of current affairs, retaining their timeless and artistic significance to this day.

Volker Hinz worked with precision, both as an observer and a storyteller. His approach is perhaps best encapsulated by his memorable statement: “The photographer must not be a bore. There are enough boring pictures already.”
