From Old Masters to Modern AI

August 15, 2024

The Museum für Photographie in Braunschweig reflects on its 40-year exhibition history: Erinnerungsbilder, on view until 15 September 2024.
The Museum für Photographie in Braunschweig celebrates its 40th anniversary with a thematic selection of important works and artistic perspectives. Along with the documentary positions showcased primarily in the 1980s and 1990s, the exhibition also includes a broad range of conceptual approaches that emerged over the following decades, in which media-specific references and installations took centre stage.

Erinnerungsbilder (Pictorial Memories) features photographs by Anna & Bernhard Blume, Walker Evans, Gisèle Freund and Robert Lebeck, Ute Mahler, August Sander, Ingo Taubhorn, Susa Templin and Wolfgang Zurborn, among others. The showcase also includes works by Boris Eldagsen, exploring the complex possibilities of creating images with the aid of AI.
