In his work as a photographer, Bleasdale focusses on human rights violations that only get little media attention. So as to be able to influence politics with his work, Bleasdale has already shown his images at the United Nations, to the US Senate and to the US House of Representatives.
The four finalists for this year's award are Daniele Volpe, Fabio Bucciarelli, Matt Black and Jan Grarup. Black and Grarup are currently working with camera's from the LFI loan pool.
Every year the FotoEvidence Book Award honours projects by photojournalists who are particularly dedicated to defending human rights or who denounce their violation. Bleasdale's project will be published as a book and, together with the works by the other finalists, will be exhibited at the Documentary Center in New York in autumn.
