Firmware Update

August 21, 2020

Leica Camera have released a new firmware update for the Leica CL.
The new firmware update 4.0 for the Leica CL improves the APS-C system camera’s performance, and extends the scope of its operational and technological possibilities.

Among them is the introduction of a status screen for photo and video mode. This convenient feature (which many will recognise from the SL2) provides an overview of the most frequently used functions, along with easy access via touchscreen or the camera’s control keys. It also enables users to switch between photo and video mode.

Another improvement is the 1.3× and 1.7× digital zoom, which enables all mounted TL lenses to zoom in closer than their optical zoom and focal length would normally allow.

Also new is the dedicated menu item for the Leica FOTOS app. This not only makes it easier to connect the camera to the app, but also offers the option of integrating additional information (such as the photographer’s artist name, comments or notes) into the metadata of the image.
