Female Gaze

May 8, 2019

A showcase of works by internationally acclaimed women photographers continues at the Kunsthaus Rhenania in Cologne until 19 May.
Why do festivals, contests and exhibitions frequently feature a majority of male artists? Where do the many outstanding female students of photography disappear to after graduation? And what can be done to make their work more visible? The team behind the photography magazine ‘Beyond’ has created an exhibition dedicated to ten award-winning women photographers, whose work is centred on a humanist approach.

With photographs by Johanna-Maria Fritz, Ksenia Kuleshova, Lia Darjes, Hayley Austin, Sarah Pabst, Snezhana von Büdingen, Anaïs Perry, Maria Sturm, Luiza Folegatti, and Sissel Thastum.

The exhibition forms part of Cologne’s Photoszene Festival (5 to 19 May 2019), featuring an exciting programme of showcases and events.
