Exceptional photography

June 26, 2017

From June 29 to September 17, 2017, the MMK Museum for Modern Art Frankfurt is presenting the work of the finalists of the 2017 Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation Prize.
For the second time running, the MMK Museum for Modern Art Frankfurt am Main is presenting the work of the finalists of the Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation Prize. The exhibition will be on display until September 17, 2017. The finalists include: Sophie Calle, Dana Lixenberg, Awoiska van der Molen and the artist duo Taiyo Onorato and Nico Krebs.

This year’s selection honours not only established photographic narrative, but also experimental and conceptual applications to documentary, landscape and portrait photography. In their work the finalists deal with questions such as truth and fiction, certainty and uncertainty, what separates the real from the ideal, as well as the relationship between the observer and the observed.

The Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation Prize is a yearly award that goes to a contemporary photo artist of any nationality, who, with an exhibition or publication the previous year, has contributed significantly to photography in Europe. One of the most renowned photographic prizes, it draws the attention to the seminal tendencies of contemporary photography, and presents works of artists who are currently making their mark on the international photo scene. The prize-winner this year is Dana Lixenberg.
