Daria Troitskaia was born in Saint Petersburg, grew up in Vienna, and now lives in Italy. Her work as a photographer is driven by aesthetic aspirations, which she pursues in a diverse range of contexts. The artist frequently orchestrates dramatic scenarios that veer between eroticism and provocation, centred around beautiful, confident women. In addition to the continuous development of her visual approaches, Troitskaia is also interested in the cameras themselves: the photographer owns a camera collection, and likes to experiment with different equipment.
The exhibition opens with an evening reception on Friday, October 28, 2022, starting from 6 p.m.; the photographer will be in attendance. On Saturday, October 29, 2022, at 4 p.m., the photographer will hold a talk (complemented by a tour of the exhibition), offering insights into the stories and techniques behind each image. This will be followed by an informal Q&A.
The showcase is accompanied by the photo book ‘Daria Troitskaia – Way Up High’, comprising all 53 images featured in the exhibition, as well as a comprehensive essay and an interview with the photographer (both in English and German). The limited-edition volume is available exclusively via Leica Gallery Nuremberg.
