Damien Daufresne

February 14, 2024

Charcoals and photographs: Leica Gallery Paris presents the exhibition Undertow by Damien Daufresne, continuing until 30 March 2024.
For as long as he can remember, Damien Daufresne has used drawings and photography to express his inner world. Over the years, the two media have blended into one long visual poem – culminating in the publication Undertow, released by Blow Up Press in 2023.

Leica Gallery Paris now presents excerpts from this collection of black and white travel photographs and family pictures, complemented by abstract charcoal drawings.

Born in Paris in 1979, Daufresne studied drawing and painting, printmaking, photography and videography at the School of Visual Arts in New York, and at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. The artist has been living in Berlin since 2006.
