Nine remarkable photo series selected for the CAP Prize – the international award for contemporary African photography – can be explored for the first time in Zurich. The large-scale outdoor exhibition, which is displayed at the city’s Rieterpark until June 6, 2022, features works by Aàdesokan (Nigeria), Katel Delia (France), César Dezfuli (Spain), Jason Florio (UK), M'hammed Kilito (Morocco), Gosette Lubondo (Congo DRC), Fabrice Monteiro (Belgium), Joseph Obanubi (Nigeria) and Ismail Zaidy (Morocco).
The prize for contemporary African photography (CAP) is directed at artists whose works were created on the African continent, or address its diaspora. The contest is designed to raise the profile of African photography within the arts, and foster a different perception of Africa. Each year, five winners are selected by an international jury, enabling the promotion of African photography worldwide.
The outdoor exhibition runs in parallel with the showcase ‘The Future is Blinking’ at the Museum Rietberg, featuring early studio photography from West and Central Africa.
