The Image Section of the German Society for Photography (DGPh) launches the 21st edition of the Otto Steinert Prize, designed to support promising newcomers in the world of professional photography. The biennial sponsorship award aims to support the completion of ambitious projects, and promote the visibility of emerging talent.
The prize money totals € 6,000, whereby the 1st prize consists of a € 5,000 grant. Those chosen for the 2nd and 3rd place each receive € 500 as a show of recognition. The winners are chosen from an initial shortlist of ten entries.
The organisers are looking for autonomous photographic achievements. There are no stipulations with regards to themes or stylistic approaches.
In addition to the Board of the Image Section of the German Society for Photography, the jury includes Rafael Heygster (winner of the Otto Steinert Prize 2019) as well as picture editor Barbara Stauss, both of whom are members of the DGPh.
