Bernard Dubuis

March 19, 2014

On 20 March, the Swiss Camera Museum opens their exhibition "Augenblicke im Wandel der Zeiten" (Moments in the Passing of Time) by Leica photographer Bernard Dubuis
Bernard Dubuis studied at the Ecole de Photographie in Vevey, Switzerland. Working in the humanist-documentary tradition of the Magnum agency, he has always prioritised the depth and long-term significance of his work over the task of creating up-to-date press photographs.

Ever since his student days, Dubuis has remained faithful to his Leica M – a camera that enables the photographer to approach the subject in a particularly discreet and unobtrusive manner. Working with the M, Dubuis is able to disregard external aspects such as changeable lighting conditions in order to focus entirely on capturing the essence of his subjects, while he himself remains in the background.

This exhibition is a collection of a series of moments, captured by the photographer over the course of the past forty years. It also represents a fitting occasion to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Leica M.
