Swiss photojournalist Didier Ruef has a talent for visual narration. His images tell critical, ironic, often humorous stories, as though he captures the world around him with a smile. His personal project "Animals' World" takes a comical as well as tender look at the sometimes bizarre coexistence of man and animal.
Ruef's dedication to the classic qualities of a good photographer – presence of mind, speed of action, a keen eye and strong instinct – is clearly reflected in his work. Working with the Leica MI, Ruef's particular strength is his ability to frame a shot within a fraction of a second. His philosophy: "You must disregard Photoshop – not on a whim, but as a matter of principle."
