African Moments

January 3, 2014

Photographs by Walter Korn will be showing at the "eigenArt Gallery" in Munich from 15 January to 28 February 2014
The African continent – so near and yet so far. The vivid images of photographer Walter Korn attempt to bring this mysterious part of the world closer to our consciousness, evoking a deeper understanding of the lives and circumstances of its inhabitants. Instead of its breathtaking, already widely documented animal world, Korn focuses on the people of West Africa and their daily surroundings.

Walter Korn has been a photographer and picture editor at the leading German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung for more than thirty years. Beyond the artistic significance of his work, sales from his photographs have been supporting African development projects for the past ten years – helping to provide education and health care for children and adults in the West African country of Burkina Faso, via the Munich-based Netzwerke/Wunschträume Association.
