Landscapes emerge as if on a canvas, filtering through the steamed-up windows of a train, the darkness brushing against the light. Snow falls on soft, muted colours. The places in Ogawa’s photographs appear to be under a spell. His contemplative, decelerated visual language tells of the freedom of being on the road, the inherent simplicity of life. His images awaken our innermost longing for a primordial experience of nature – far from the man-made, increasingly artificial structures of modern life.
