Harold Feinstein (1931–2015) first gained acclaim with his now iconic black-and-white series on Coney Island in the 1950s, and went on to become one of the leading photographers in the USA. As a representative of the New York school of photography he took an empathetic approach, with a primary focus on street photography. Even though Feinstein’s work has long been part of public and private collections around the world, he is still mostly unknown in Europe – something the Parisian gallery now seeks to change with this large-scale retrospective.
