Elliott Erwitt – Kolor

January 2, 2015

The 'In Focus' Gallery in Cologne marks their 25th anniversary with an exhibition by Leica photographer Elliott Erwitt.
In January 2015, Cologne's In Focus Gallery celebrates the venue's 25th anniversary. In these 25 years, the gallery has presented more than 140 exhibitions. As well as celebrating famous photographers (including Bruce Davidson, Elliott Erwitt, Greg Gorman, F.C. Gundlach, Thomas Hoepker, Marc Riboud, Jan Saudek and Jeanloup Sieff), the gallery has also promoted many new talents, such as Peikwen Cheng, Thomas Kellner, Hans Jürgen Raabe and Susan Dobson – often as the first venue to present up-and-coming photographers within Germany.

For their anniversary exhibition in January 2015, In Focus presents a global premiere of photographs by one of the world's most famous photographers. The images are the fruits of a rich and prolific working life, which have been dormant in the artist's archives to now be presented for the first time.

The exhibition comprises 45 colour photographs, selected by Elliott Erwitt and gallery owner Burkhard Arnold. Elliott Erwitt rose to international fame with his intelligently ironic street photographs, many of which feature animals.
